Reopening of our Book Corner!
Last Sunday, we gathered for a warm meet-and-greet at the Book Corner. We sat together, shared conversations about what the Book Corner means to each of us, and played a light trivia game that brought back memories from our previous gatherings.
The game opened with a fun challenge: remembering the talk given by Fr. Elia. It took us a moment, but we finally recalled that he spoke about how to read a book and develop a critical mindset while doing so. From there, the trivia flowed into questions about past speakers, our favorite books, and the moments that shaped our meetings.
Throughout the gathering, we also held space for two beloved members who truly marked our Book Corner. Marie-Thérèse Ferres, our last speaker, had spoken about “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” by Paulo Coelho. She graciously donated five Paulo Coelho books to the Book Corner, and, in her will, asked that even more of her collection be gifted to us. Her photo, placed next to one from a previous gathering, remains in our Book Corner as a constant reminder of her presence.
We also remembered Nicola Nahas, the main book donor who supported us from the very beginning. He was with us at every meeting, always sharing his thoughts openly and honestly. His spirit continues to be part of our space.
We are so grateful for every person who becomes part of this community and for the relationships we build along the way. We’re looking ahead for our future gatherings and for this refreshed chapter of the Book Corner after its renovation.
