United with Beirut - summary of our Mission
We have started another year of our Mission in Lebanon, which is constantly evolving. Time for another summary.
We started our activities in cooperation with Caritas of Łódź a few days after the tragic explosion that took place on August 4, 2020, initially focusing on the reconstruction of the damage, distribution of the most necessary food and medical supplies, as well as the reactivation of damaged workplaces.
The previous year saw an expansion of projects, as we launched the "First Step" educational program and built YBTE - the Young Team of Domus Orientalis, which today is responsible for ecological, cultural and educational projects. In addition, we also focused on providing aid in areas other than those affected by the explosion, developing projects, e.g. in the Ain el Remmaneh district.
From the beginning of our activities, we have carried out projects with a total value of USD 94,910.27 and EUR 2,640, helping, among others, in renovation of 90 facilities and supporting the reactivation of 36 workplaces.
Below we have attached two PDF reports:
1. Detailed information on all works carried out in 2021
2. General for all projects from the beginning of our mission in August 2020 to the end of December 2021.
Thanks to your support and diocesan collections, we can continue the work! Unfortunately, Lebanon is on the edge of collapse, and in Beirut itself in November, near our office, tragic fights took place, as a result of which 7 people were killed and over 30 were injured. Hence, we thank you for your prayers, material support and a kind word! There is a long way to go!
